News Update - July 2010
![]()
Having launched the new web-site, promotional activities continue with planned attendance at BOPA 2010 in Manchester. This event takes place on October 15-17 2010 and QAT will be present with the P.C.I (Portable Compliant Isolator) on Stand 18. Further details may be found using the following link:
Emphasis is now directed towards existing products and services after many years of pioneering new and innovative technologies. This is just part of a programme to raise the Company’s profile to help consolidate the large turn over growth seen in the last financial year, which was largely due to increasing interest in defence related products and control panel manufacture. Its flag ship product the P.C.I, is fast becoming a standard addition to hospital pharmacies where flexibility and ease of operation are important factors. It also has a significant role to play controlling infections on hospital wards that do not have their own aseptic facilities. The price (around 1/3 that of a standard sized isolator) also makes it attractive at a time when budgets are limited. Quantum Air Technology is currently investigating a nuclear medicines application (chromium 51) for the P.C.I, where additional gamma radiation screening will be applied if required.
Other news updates are as follows: -
Biotechnology Equipment
Supply continues to find a strong demand, as Quantum supplies high technology air management units to the World’s only manufacturer of fully sealed IVC systems. We also supply digital control systems for Biotech isolator systems, which now include fully integrated VHP fumigation control.
Defence Equipment
QAT has now completed shipment of all 348 NBC/AC digital control panels ultimately destined for the Saudi military vehicle update programme and the Malaysian Army. Once in regular and reliable military operation, it is hoped further contracts for this state-of-the-art system will be placed.
P.C.I units have also been shipped to the Canadian Armed Forces for military medical use. They are configured as Class 3 Microbiological high containment cabinets and are equipped with a ductless fumigation system. As part of this process the product has been NATO codified and is under consideration by other NATO countries. A military style canvass carrying case is also now available for the P.C.I. This aids quick operation from vehicles, as the case allows full in-situ operation of the P.C.I via removable panels.
Medical Equipment
The P.C.I is increasingly being used as an aseptic dispensing facility at hospital ward level, and has been in full production for two years. Hospitals are using the P.C.I for most aseptic applications including monoclonal antibody preparation (MABS), chemotherapy drug dispensing, infection control, clinical trials, gene therapy and out of hours drug dispensing. P.C.I’s are now in use in Spire hospital pharmacies and will shortly equip every Spire hospital which has an aseptic suite. Several P.C.I’s are being used in clinical trials across the UK and the first three units licensed for pharmaceutical production are in use at Biomed – New Zealand. Quantum Air Technology also designs and supplies digital control systems for other company’s isolators which now include full integration of isolator/VHP systems.
Spares
