QAT’s expertise in instrumentation and air handling has been used to eradicate biological weapons and chemical weapons from key assets, including sensitive equipment and critical facilities. The design, development and production of such products have been fitted to military vehicles for their chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defence. QAT’s portable glove box the P.C.I are also being by the UK and Canadian Armed Forces for military medical use in field hospitals typically in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are configured as Class 3 high containment cabinets and are equipped with a ductless fumigation system. As part of this process the product has been NATO codified and is under consideration by other NATO countries.
Background
The attacks following 9/11 in the U.S. have demonstrated that terrorist organizations are now prepared to use biological and chemical weapons in pursuit of their aims. The main threat has been biologically contaminated mail, although there is also a concern for the potential threat of an airborne attack using bio-chemical agents. Quantum Air Technology has applied its defence related technology in clean air and containment, to develop two products to reduce both these threats to an acceptable level. These products are the Mail-Guard Portable Glove Box (P.C.I) and Air-Guard respectively. Quantum have also designed specialist containment systems for for the protection of pathogens to Hazard Group 4, see below:
